Roxtec RS PPS /S S eal
Product description
Circular stainless steel penetration seal type RS PPS/S for plastic pipes through bulkheads. The penetration is composed
of two Roxtec seals and an intumescent sealing strip in the middle fitted on each side of a steel sleeve symmetrically
welded to the bulkhead.
The penetration is to be insulated, on both the exposed and unexposed side of the bulkhead, with 2 layers (thickness 45
mm each) of mineral wool Rockwool type SeaRox WM 620, having a density of 90 kg/m3, cut in a circular pattern
with a width of 250 mm measured from the sleeve; the sleeve is to be insulated, on both the exposed and unexposed
side, with 2 layers of mineral wool Rockwool type SeaRox WM 620, having a density of 90 kg/m3, extending flush
with end of sleeve.
Field of application
Fire resistant A-60 Class plastic pipe penetrations through steel bulkheads.
Type RS PPS/S size 43 mm; thermoplastic pipes having diameter 16 mm, with a sleeve thickness of 4 mm.
Type RS PPS/S size from 43 up to 150 mm; thermoplastic pipes having diameter ranging from 16 to 110 mm, with a
sleeve thickness of 6.5 mm.
Watertightness pressure test of 2 bar; work pressure less or equal to 1.33 bar.

General conditions for the approval
a) The initial conditions verified by RINA at the time of the approval are to be maintained
b) Any changes to the initial conditions are to be promptly communicated to RINA, which reserves the right to repeat the relevant
assessment
c) This certificate will no be valid if the manufacturer makes any changes or modifications to the approved equipment, which have not been
notified to, and agreed with RINA
d) RINA personnel are to allowed to witness during the performances of activities, upon their request
e) The activities are to be carried out in compliance with the RINA Rules and/or other applicable Rules
f) Should the specified regulations or standards be amended during the validity of this certificate, the product is to be reapproved prior to it
being placed on board vessels to which the amended regulations or standards apply.
